Travel Pictures - Scandinavia - 1991

All images © Ron Miller

Although my visit to Scandinavia was far too brief, I had a rail pass with
unlimited travel and was able to venture from the populated regions in the
south to the remote regions of the north beyond the Arctic Circle. I admired
the cleanliness and orderliness of each of the Scandinavian countries as well
as the professional and responsible habits of the people. I hope to return soon.

Sweden's largest city and capital as seen on a beautiful summer day. The city is spread out over
fourteen islands in the Stockholm Archipelago between Lake Mälaren and the Baltic Sea -

The city of Narvik, located 130 miles north of the arctic circle, can be reached by train from Sweden. Narvik is a popular
location to view the midnight sun, which does not set between May 25 and July 18. However, in the winter, the sun remains
below the horizon from late November until mid January when there is only a bluish light for a few hours around noon -

A group photo with a wonderful family from Malmo, Sweden whom I met on the train to Narvik.
I think it just might be a stretch to claim that we were traveling light? -
